Falaza Game Reserve

Well we are in the middle of winter here in Northern Zululand but you would think it is spring, because babies are being born all over the place.

Falaza is proud to welcome into the world a brand new baby white rhino, and a brand new giraffe.

24 hours old and already full of nonsense this little one is now on view almost every day in front of the main lodge. Apart from making for some great photos for our guests it is also providing great laughs with its puppy like antics.

The little giraffe is being well hidden by her mother at the moment, but some of our guests have been lucky enough to get a quick glimpse of her or him…..we are not sure yet.

Hluhluwe Game Reserve

One of our rangers, Dean had the opportunity to video two male lions on a kill recently. Although we live and work here, this is still quite a hair-raising experience even for us. These lions have formed a coalition with an older male for the moment so they are doing their own hunting and doing it quite successfully. For those who have clients visiting Hluhluwe Game Reserve you might want to tell them to keep an eye open for these three guys in the Northern section of the reserve, they have been around for a few months and should still be around for some time at least until the dynamic changes and it is time to look for females. The guests with Dean loved it and realised they were witnessing something out of the ordinary.

Weddings

Falaza is often asked to host weddings and it is almost always a pleasure. A wedding in an African setting is not a new concept and has proved very popular over the last few years. On the day when everything is set and ready there really is always a special feel to a ceremony like this being held in the open and international visitors and guests absolutely love it.

When a white rhino wanders past in the background (which is not unusual at all) it really makes the occasion a little more special.
