Summer in the bush is a magical time of green grass, thunderous skies, and a new generation of animals big and small. Here at Falaza, we’ve had a fair amount of Summer rain, which has lit up the bushveld with lush, green vegetation.

Summer is also the time of year when most animals give birth. We’ve been blessed with a plentiful new crop of baby impalas pouncing around the reserve, along with other baby antelope. Our dazzle of zebras have a new little foal, and we think that a baby buffalo or two may be on the way. But out of all the little ones, we feel that the prize for the cutest goes to our baby wildebeest, following dutifully behind their mothers with their gangly legs.

Along with a bustling maternity section, Summer is also the time of year that a variety of beautiful birds from all around the world flock to the Elephant Coast. Birds of prey abound, along with magical flashes of colour from birds that have taken on their breeding plumage to attract females during their courting season.

Get your cameras ready for our bevvy of babies, an abundance of birdlife and dramatic afternoon thunderstorms with lightning darting across the horizon. Summer is in full swing, and we’re loving every second of it!

The guides at Falaza Game Park & Spa look forward to hosting you this year. We can’t wait to show you all that this beautiful piece of Africa has to offer.
